History
Dr. Alexander John Chandler purchased 80 acres of land south of Mesa in the Salt River Valley from the federal government in 1891. It wasn't very many years that Chandler became a trade center for surrounding farms. Incorporated in 1920 as a town, it was upgraded to city statusin 1954. A history page for Chandler.
