Avondale History:
William (Billy) Moore came to the Kingman area in the late 1860s from Missouri. He eventually settled near the Aqua Fria River about 1880. Agua Fria means cold water in Spanish. He called his little village Coldwater. He took part in the early government for a brief time, built a saloon and general store and created a stage stop in Coldwater. He was the postmaster here from 1901 until 1905. The Post office was then moved to another site near the Avondale Ranch and soon became known as Avondale Post office. The little community name of Coldwater gradually faded from use. Avondale was incorporated in 1946. The incorporation date of Avondale: 13 December 1946
