Central Avenue Holiday Inn to be sold piece by piece
The Business Journal of Phoenix - June 8, 2006
A hotel will be sold over the next month on Central Avenue. Actually, the building won't be offered, but everything in it will be up for sale.
Beginning Friday, the Holiday Inn Midtown, 4321 N. Central Ave., will be the site of a liquidation sale. Thousands of items, from furniture to TVs to bedding to banquet linens, will be sold.
A condominium project is to be built on the site, so the building that housed the hotel "will be coming down and everything needs to be out the door before that happens," said Michael Lunsford, president of NCL Liquidating. Lunsford's company handled the liquidations of the Scottsdale Radisson Resort & Spa and the Mountain Shadows Resort, both in 2005.
Rather than an auction, with items sold in lots, every item on sale will be individually priced. Items will go from $1 to "a chandelier for a couple of hundred," said Lunsford.
In addition to room furniture -- dressers for $55, desks for $45, bed sets beginning at $95 and 25-inch color TVs for $65 -- there will also be office and lobby furniture, bar and restaurant furnishings and equipment, and kitchen and commercial laundry equipment.
The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays until all items are sold.
